Local History
We meet as a group throughout the year. The session starts start with a 20 minute talk about a particular topic that I have researched on the history of Shiplake or that of its people, buildings, organisations, school, church, trade etc We then share anecdotes, photographs, maps and information about all things Shiplake past. We have made oral recordings of chats with long-standing residents to bring history to life and to preserve it for the future.

Upcoming Meetings - Autumn / Winter 2025
A number of villagers have told me that they have enjoyed reading the Centenary Trail booklet. So I have decided to give a talk expanding on the history of the Village. The talk will be held at Audley Shiplake Meadows and will consist of a general overview.
Owing to a limit on numbers the talk will be held on two dates -
- Thursday 6th November,
- Thursday 11th December.
Both talks will start at 2:15pm and last approximately one hour.
Depending on how these talks go I may hold further, more detailed, talks in the New Year.
To book your place on either of these dates please call or text me on 07702974061.
