The Henley Society
The Henley Society seeks to preserve the best of Henley, to improve the rest, and to ensure that the town remains a place where people wish to live, work and play, and indeed visit.
The Society was founded in 1961 when an application to knock down the Catherine Wheel Hotel in Hart Street, and replace it with a row of shops was approved by the, then, Henley Borough Council. A group of like-minded Henley individuals got together to fight the decision, which, eventually was overturned. Thus began the Henley Society and we will celebrate our 60th birthday in 2022. We are a Registered Charity.
