The February Film: My Favourite Cake
Given the success of our free “wee dram” we paired with last months Scottish Film, we have done it again!

Shiplake Community Cinema - Pop Up Cinema at Oaken Grove Vineyard
SCC will be showing multi OSCAR nominated movie SIDEWAYS at Oaken Grove on August 22nd.
Doors open at 6pm. Movie starts at 8.00pm on the covered wine terrace.
A fully stocked bar and stone baked pizzas will be available to order.
Come and watch this fabulous wine themed road trip bitter sweet comedy a beautiful location.
This will be a silent cinema, in consideration of the neighbours, and sanitised wireless headphones will be provided included in the ticket.
Sideways is a 2004 American comedy-drama directed by Alexander Payne and written by Jim Taylor and Payne (15 certificate). A film adaptation of Rex Pickett's 2004 novel, Sideways follows two men in their forties, Miles Raymond (Paul Giamatti), a depressed teacher and unsuccessful writer, and Jack Cole (Thomas Haden Church), a past-his-prime actor, who take a week-long road trip to Santa Barbara County wine country to celebrate Jack's upcoming wedding. Sandra Oh and Virginia Madsen also star as women they encounter during their trip.
Sideways premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2004, and was released in the United States on October 22, 2004. It received widespread acclaim from critics and is regarded as one of the greatest films of the 2000s. At the 77th Academy Awards, the film was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Haden Church), Best Supporting Actress (Madsen), and Best Adapted Screenplay, the last of which it won.

Grandma takes revenge on the scammers, on a mobility scooter no less. Superbly acted by 95 year old June Squibb. Great reviews for this feel-good film so come along. Doors open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Shiplake Community Cinema invite you to our special evening looking at the movie of “Raiders of the lost Ark” - this includes an opportunity to hear a talk and presentation by props and model maker Paul Robbens. Paul has worked in film and props model making business for many years.
Come along and see some of the actual props from the movie. You will get the opportunity to find out how they were made, to ask questions about them and see the real life objects too!
After Paul’s presentation, you get to watch the film (rated 12A) – running time approximately 115 minutes.
This will be a lovely opportunity for all of the villages to get together – parents, grandparents, children and local community.
Tickets:
£8 adults / £5 children (under 16; children’s ticket includes drink and popcorn – children are welcome to bring along a cushion/beanbag).
On sale at the Corner Shop, Lower Shiplake, on the door or pre order from shiplakecommunitycinema@gmail.com.
For adults – there is also a bar selling drinks and snacks.

April Film - To Kill a Mocking Bird
Shiplake Community Cinema will be holding the next Film Night on Friday 5th April at Shiplake Memorial Hall.
The film will be To Kill a Mockingbird. With Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in the wonderful adaptation of the classic novel by Harper Lee.
Doors open at 6.45 for a 7.30 performance. Tickets are £8.

The New Year brings a new film!
The Shiplake Community Cinema will be showing 'LUNANA - A Yak in the Classroom' on Friday February 9th at the Memorial Hall.
A wonderful heart-warming film set in stunning scenery. A young teacher in modern Bhutan apsires to become a singer. But he is sent to the most remote school high in the Himalayas.
A very different film, which we hope you will enjoy. It has subtitles.
Tickets will be available from the Corner Shop and Binfield Heath Stores and will cost £8.
